Dr. Eugene Rho is an ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, astigmatism correction, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), glaucoma management, and general ophthalmic care. He earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Rho went on to complete his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Florida.
Why I Chose Ophthalmology
During medical school, I created a documentary on how cataracts impact patients and their loved ones. Witnessing how delicate cataract surgery could restore not only sight but also independence and joy inspired me to dedicate my career to vision restoration. My philosophy as a physician is simple: treat every patient as I would my own family. I strive to build trust, communicate clearly, and develop individualized treatment plans that meet each patient’s unique goals. For me, cataract surgery is more than a procedure — it’s the chance to give people their lives back.
Outside the Clinic
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my amazing wife and exploring new places together. I love traveling, cooking, and discovering great local food. I’m also an avid fan of the outdoors — whether hiking, biking, or capturing landscapes through photography. On the weekends, you’ll often find me playing basketball (go Grizzlies) or cheering on the Hurricanes.
